Technology and Shoes That Don’t Fit

Are ready for an insanely personal and embarrassing story about me? Well, “insanely” may be exaggerating just a tad.  The deal is that I almost always buy shoes that don’t fit.  It’s true. I’ve been doing this for years because I refuse to take time to try shoes on at the mall.  It doesn’t really matter why I hate to try them on because the end result is that I always walk out with a pair of shoes that is about a size too large.  The result?  I am that girl who is walking around trying to stuff Dr. Scholl’s insoles into designer heels and getting it all wrong.

Recently, I decided that I would beat myself at my own game and order some shoes online instead.  And, just to make sure I didn’t sabotage myself yet again, I ordered the Calvin Klein heels one size smaller than I normally buy.  Guess what?  You got it….the shoes did not fit!  Now, are you wondering why I’m telling you all this?  It’s simple.  In order to find anything that is a perfect fit, you have to shop around and “try on” the product.

Which brings me to the subject of HR and technology.

When I think of how many HR professionals approach technology it is with sweaty palms and some amount of trepidation.  I was like that too.  Then, I attended my first HR Technology Conference.  As a practicing HR pro, I know we are all eyeball deep in the daily needs of our organization.  But, what could be more important than freeing up time of the HR team with outstanding technology.  With technology in place that is the right fit you and your team will have more time to dedicate to leadership discussions about how to meet the business goals.  Now, isn’t THAT what you’d rather be spending your time doing?

This year, you can learn more about talent communities, branding, culture and technology solutions.  And, you can do it with two conferences in one!

Working in conjunction with our friends at the HR Technology Conference, which is being held in Las Vegas from October 3-5, 2011, the HRevolution is slated to take place on October 2, 2011, the day before the big HR Technology Show kicks off.

HRevolution is about engagement, intense discussion, challenging sessions and conversations led by and made relevant for a wide cross-section of Human Resources professionals and thinkers. It is simply a different and unique event, and the people that have attended HRevolution events in the past always walk away with inspiration, insights, and plans for action.   After this, you can dive right into the HR Technology Conference and talk with tech-savvy practitioners, experts and vendors, hear how they are helping companies successfully implement the latest technology solutions and even try on some for yourself!

So if you were planning to head to Vegas for the HR Technology Conference, come in a day early and join us at HRevolution – Las Vegas. And if you are an HRevolution fan, but have never been to the HR Technology Conference before, well, now is a fantastic opportunity to combine both events in one trip. Registrants for HRevolution – Las Vegas will receive the largest discount code good for $600 off the onsite registration rate of $1,795 that can be applied to the HR Technology Conference registration. That’s the biggest discount available, so register for HRevolution today and we’ll send you your discount code for the HR Technology Conference!

See you soon in Vegas!!
